Holyrood 2016: Mental health takes centre stage

Mental health took centre stage in the campaign this week with the announcement of the SNP’s plans to invest at least £150 million to improve mental health services over the next five years. Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing & Sport, Shona Robison, pointed to the recently announced £50 million to improve waiting times for treatment and an overall increase in funding of 40 per cent since 2006 as evidence of good progress. The new investment will enable a re-elected SNP Government to take further action over the next parliament to improve mental health care in communities, to support people living with mental health challenges.
